Travel Scholarship

Applications are now CLOSED.

ECA is committed to supporting the diversity of individuals and organisations working to strengthen the well-being of young children.

As part of ECA’s commitment to advancing reconciliation in the early years, the Reconciliation Symposium is an important event that will provide opportunities to explore reconciliation within the sector, networking, professional development and information sharing. Advancing reconciliation in early childhood education and care will be held from 3–4 May 2024 in Ngunnawal, Canberra.

We recognise that some individuals and organisations may find it difficult to participate in the symposium because of limited resources and/or long travel distances. ECA is offering a single rate scholarship to assist with the cost associated with travel to the event. Scholarships can be used to pay a proportion of travel, accommodation or registration costs at the discretion of the individual or their employer. The applicant must be prepared to:

  • attend the full 2 days of the symposium,
  • be available to meet their travel scholarship sponsor and have photos taken for later inclusion in media and promotion by both ECA and the sponsor, and
  • provide feedback on the symposium and the value of scholarship following the symposium.

The allocation of scholarships will be administered by ECA with priority given to applications from registered early childhood education and care services that are:

  • Operating in rural and remote areas with high travel costs to Canberra; and
  • Demonstrating engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.

Successful travel scholarship recipients will be eligible for $2,035 (incl. GST) to attend the ECA Reconciliation SymposiumAdvancing reconciliation in early childhood education and care 3–4 May 2024 in Ngunnawal, Canberra..
